Florence L. Chala, age 90, a long-time resident of Black Rock, Bridgeport, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Ludlowe Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Fairfield. Born in Jamestown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Lambi and Andrea Cotmil Chala. She was a dedicated employee of General Electric for 44 years, having retired in 1989. Florence was a member of St. George Albanian Orthodox Church in Trumbull, She was a former member of the Parish Church Council and the Church Choir. She is survived by her devoted sister Diana C. Michael and her husband Van of Fairfield; a loving niece Laura Michael Coughlin and her husband Tim of Trumbull; great-niece and Godchild Kelly Coughlin and great-nephew T.J. Coughlin; nephew Jonathan L. Michael and his wife Sanja of Bath, ME and great-niece Alexandra Michael.
Friends are invited to attend the Rite of Burial on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 10 a.m. in St. George Albanian Orthodox Church, 5490 Main St., Trumbull, with the Archpriest Dennis Rhodes officiating, followed by interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Calling hours will take place on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport, with the Trisagion Service taking place at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Albanian Orthodox Church.
