Martin Eric Peterson, Jr., of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2016 after a long illness. Born in Bridgeport on April, 2, 1942, he returned there after military service in the U.S. Navy. A disabled veteran Martin never lost his interest in historic films which celebrated the heroism and camaraderie of American soldiers and sailors in wars fought to promote democracy and peace.
Pre-deceased by his parents, Martin E. Peterson, Sr. and Mary Knapik Peterson, and brother-in-law, Bert Janowski, Martin leaves to cherish his memory his three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Christine P. Davis and her husband, Harold Davis Sr., of Bridgeport; Carol P. Janowski, of Bridgeport; and Judith P. Geanuracos and her husband Charles Geanuracos, of Hollywood, Florida. He is also survived by his nieces, Ingrid Gamiello and Stephanie Janowski, his nephew, Harold Davis, Jr., and great-nieces, Gianna Gamiello and Lily Gamiello; together with many cousins and his good friend Edward Boucher, of Companions and Homemakers.
His family wishes to praise the excellent long-term care provided Martin by the competent and dedicated nursing staff of Bridgeport Manor, where his physical needs were so compassionately served and where he enjoyed attending Holy Mass. It also gratefully acknowledges the caring services of Pat Standish and the Social Work Department as well as those of the attending physicians of the Veterans Administration Hospital, West Haven, Connecticut.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday November 17, 2016 at 11am in St. Michael the Archangel Church followed by interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Calling hours will take place on Thursday morning from 930 to 11am in the Radozycki Funeral Home, 305 Pulaski St. Bridgeport.
