Helena Jakubowska, beloved wife of 63 years to Stefan Jakubowski, entered eternal peace in her home with the family by her side on Friday, December 16, 2016. Born in Poland on May 22, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Waleria and Wladyslaw Poplawski. Helena was pre-deceased by her son Antoni Jakubowski and brother Franciszek Poplawski.
A devout Roman Catholic, Helena had strong faith in God, loved her family, and enjoyed gardening. Helena was retired from Magnatek for 20 years and resided in Bridgeport.
She will be missed by her daughter Teresa Skoniecki and her husband Wojciech Skoniecki of Ansonia, her daughter-in-law Hanna Jakubowska of Bridgeport, her brother Antoni Poplawski and his wife Jadwiga Poplawski, and her sister-in-law Anna Poplawska of Poland.
She is also survived by her granddaughter Katarzyna Morrell of Bridgeport, her grandson Jakub Skoniecki and his wife Liling Skoniecki of New York City, her granddaughter Marta Rarey and her husband Mitchell Rarey of Shelton, granddaughter Joanna Winkowski and her husband Damian Winkowski of Derby, her niece Anna Poplawska of Norwalk, great grandchildren: Karolina Morrell, Maya Winkowski and Landon Rarey, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews in Poland.
Calling hours will take place on Wednesday December 21, 2016 from 4pm to 7pm in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10am in St. Michael the Archangel Church, Bridgeport, followed by interment in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Michael Church in memory of Helena.
