Liduvina Vargas Torres age 87 of Bridgeport, beloved wife of 63 years to Domingo Torres died peacefully on Tuesday August 8, 2017 surrounded by her family. Born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Eusebio and Maria Perez Vargas. A resident of Bridgeport for over 59 years, she was a devoted and active parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and a member of the “Cofrades” of St. Mary’s. Liduvina devoted her life to St. Mary’s Church which next to family was her whole life.
Survivors in addition to her loving husband Domingo are her seven daughters, Lourdes Ortiz (James), Virginia Payton (Russell), Delma Jimmy (Edgar), Loisa Torres, Margaret Kelly-Torres, Denny Viera (Hector), Iris Torres (Frank), 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sisters Camelia Torres and Annie Diaz, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her great-grandson Luciano.
Calling hours will take place on Friday August 11, 2017 from 4 to 8pm in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am in St. Mary’s Church, Bridgeport followed by interment in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church in memory of Liduvina.
