James M. McDonald Sr. age 94 of Stratford, loving husband of 53 years to the late Catherine York McDonald passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Cambridge Manor with his loving family by his side. Born in New Milford, CT., he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth Spodnick McDonald. James served in the Navy during WWII aboard LST 1014. After serving his country, he worked as a bus driver for CR & L Bus Co. and retired from M&M Fence Co.
Survivors include his devoted son James M. McDonald Jr. and his wife Sharlene of Trumbull; Grandchildren: Greg M. McDonald and his wife Patricia of Trumbull; Lori Ogorzalek and her husband Wesley of Huntington, and 5 Great-Grandchildren: Abby, Erin, Thomas, Jack McDonald and Ava Ogorzalek. He is also survived by his siblings: Margaret Mason of Alamo, CA, Walter McDonald of Rocklin, CA, and William McDonald of Stratford. He was predeceased by siblings: Elizabeth, Florence, John, Francis, Edward, Mary, and Patricia.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 4 to 7pm in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am in Christ the King Parish, Trumbull followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull with full military honors.
