Jennie Dorothy Karpinski 93, of Fairfield passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at St Vincent’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward S. Karpinski, and the devoted mother of Edward F. Karpinski (Laura Hoover Karpinski) of Cypress, CA; Francis E. Karpinski (Susan Passeri Karpinski) of Huntington, CT; and Richard F. Karpinski of Fairfield, CT. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Benjamin Karpinski, Christina Karpinski Compagnola (Jess Compagnola), Daniel Karpinski, John Karpinski; and adoring great-grandmother of Enio and Katherine Compagnola. She is survived by her cherished in-laws Eugene and Madlyn Karpinski, and Alfred Karpinski as well as many much loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Felicia Czarnecki; husband, Edward; brother, Alfonse; sister, Monica. Jennie was born in Bridgeport, on February 6, 1924 and moved to Fairfield where she resided for the past 58 years. A devoted Catholic, Jennie was a member of St Michael the Archangel's Parish in Bridgeport for over 80 years. At St Michael’s, she and her husband Edward, devoted countless volunteer hours and were recipients of the St Augustine Medal of Service Award for dedicated service to the diocese and parish. Jennie worked at Kolbe High School, Archdiocese of Bridgeport and St Michael’s Parish. Jennie was a kind, humble, and selfless person who always greeted everyone with her warm smile. A lover of God, family, flowers, birds, and desserts, she will be greatly missed by all whose life she so graciously touched. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday September 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St Michael the Archangel Church, Bridgeport. Internment will take place in St Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Franciscan Mission Association.
