Barbara (Lozada) Killeen, 69, of Shelton, passed away on Wednesday due to complications from cancer. Barbara was the eldest of twelve children born to the late Francisco and Lucy (Blados) Lozada of Bridgeport. She was a graduate of Bassick HS and furthered her education at area colleges including Sacred Heart and Fairfield University. Barbara had a long and successful career as a Business Executive with local Fortune 500 companies such as GE, Black & Decker, Applica Consumer Products and Swiss Army. She was most recently employed with the Workplace Inc. She was involved in many charities during her time and her latest volunteer service included providing meals for the homeless and transportation for hospice patients. Barbara had a zest for life and always lived a very active lifestyle. Throughout her life she enjoyed various forms of athletics including softball, skiiing, dancing and swimming. She loved beach vacations and shopping (Costco and QVC will miss her). She looked forward to her many “mini vacations” and outings with her best friend of nearly 50 years, Susan. In her life she made many long and cherished friendships and enjoyed coffee, lunches, dinners, movies, theater and classes at the gym with them. She spent much of the last few decades enjoying the company of her nieces and nephews.
Barbara is survived by sisters Marie Davis (husband Robert) of Oxford, Marcianne Gardner (husband Andrew) of Bridgeport, Laura Ponnikas (husband Douglas) of Hancock, MI, Elizabeth Lozada of San Diego, CA, Adele Perez (husband Frank) of Groton as well as three brothers Gerald Lozada (wife Maria) of Bridgeport, Anthony Lozada of Portsmouth, N.H. and Alexander Lozada. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Michael Lozada, Francis Lozada and sister Bernadette Lozada. Last but not least, Barbara leaves her daughters and grandson, Jacqueline Goodchild of Wallingford, Michelle Diamond of Orlando, FL and Petty Officer 3rd Class Patrick O’Shea of Jacksonville, FL each of whom she had a special relationship with and loved very deeply. Barbara would like to thank Dr. Sarah Goldberg and staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital, Dr. Chris Gennino, his colleagues and staff at CT Hospice as well as all her family and friends that tried to keep her spirits up during her illness.
Calling hours will take place on Wednesday April 11, 2018 from 4 to 7pm in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11am in St. Michael the Archangel Church, Bridgeport with interment to take place at a later date.
